14: Classic car exhibitions

If you link up with members in the Classic Car Association, you will have access to newsletters that will avail you the chance to discover where the auto shows in your area take place

For your first enterprise, you may decide to join a classic car club in your region and display your newly fixed classic car at the neighborhood show. Most neighborhood has these type of classic car exhibitions. It is not hard to enter the exhibition for free. There are no prizes and no fee for anyone to take a look. You simply sit there, open the hood and the doors and allow people to see your car. You have to constantly remind the little kids around not to touch.

If you have been to any of these neighborhoodclassic car shows, you should know how things are done. You can spend the whole day exchanging ideas with some other classic car enthusiasts who will give you constructive criticism about your classic car, whether you ask or not. You can also make a few new friends.

At first you might not be too mindful of your car as the others who have been in this business for a while. A number of them would prefer to have their wife molested than to have anyone touch their classic car. However, as time progresses and you take part in a number of shows, observe people who seem to allow their kids run wild as they attempt to jump into your car, this will make you more vigilant in watching your car as time goes on.

Once you have gotten the hang of this and you are much more confident in your car restoration skills, you may decide to take part in an classic car club demonstration. A number of classic car clubs can be found  all over the United States. You can easily find a number of these on the internet. There is a good chances that some of your cronies will be able to tell you some other places where your classic car can be displayed.

A lot of  classic car clubs hold monthly demonstrations  in which auto restorers vie with each other for a prize. The prizes are non monetary, only plaques and trophies are awarded in various categories.

Once you have attained the level of Concours d’Elegance, you can take part  in a major classic car shows that take place every year in the United States. Some of the most popular ones are held annually at Meadow Brook Michigan. An other stimulating venue for classic car restoration lovers is the classic car exhibition and auction held at Hilton Head, South Carolina. These events takes place every year. They  are some of the top car shows in the country. Asides exhibition, many classic car owners sell off their cars to the highest bidder.

The Stowe Car Show in Vermont is one of the oldest classic car exhibitions in the country. It has been help for over 50 years. The Stowe Car Show is one of the most loved classic car shows that take place in the United States. Car restoration fanciers travel to Vermont each year to be involved in this show. Prizes are awarded in various categories, which include  interior design, exterior excellence and overall quality of the classic car. Any kind of classic car can take part in this show. You will see cars that range from the muscle Cars of the 1970s to Veteran Cars that were built before WWI.

The most esteemed definitive car show in the United States is the Concours d’Elegance which take place at Pebble Beach. The  crème de le crème of all restored classic cars are seen at this show. Prizes awarded range from $200,000 to $400,000 and prizes are also awarded for the street show in which classic cars are evaluated based on their speed.

Nearly all classic auto exhibitions have essentials for entry. Scout round and see if you can find one that will beseem the type of classic car that you have restored. There are some that only showcase cars from the 1950s, while others only display pre-WWII cars. Every epoch of cars have their own classic cars that were made during that time.

If you have successfully renovated a fun car from the 1960s or 1970s, you will definitely  find a car show in which to display your car. Many people enjoy watching the cars that they grew up with turned into “classics” because of the interest they have in “reminiscent of the past”. Young people today feel admiration for the 1980s and there is more of a calling to show restored cars from that era, most especially the garish ones such as the AMC Gremlin and Pacer.

The beautiful thing about linking up with classic car club members is that you become a member of a group that share common interests. You will be opportuned to meet other people who are also interested in renovating cars and thus you will learn many other techniques and tips from them. Once you have made up your mind to restore a car, join a local club in your area  so that you can get ready help from others who will gladly share their knowledge and experience with a tyro car restorer.
