Newmarket’s free summer concert series features Spice Girls tribute band Wannabe tonight

Thursday, July 21     

TD Music Series: Newmarket’s free summer concert series headliner Wannabe pays tribute to the Spice Girls and their biggest hits, with Bianca Rollo Band opening, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr.

Friday, July 22

Friday night tunes: Uxbridge-based band Chalk Lake plays live at the Taproom at Market Brewing Company from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The band will bring their alternative rock style, which got started in a friend’s parents’ house on Chalk Lake Road. 

Richmond Hill Ribfest: July 22 to 24, Ribfest features professional rib teams from across North America cooking and competing for various best titles. In addition to food, enjoy live entertainment and one of the region’s largest midways at Richmond Green Park

Saturday, July 23

Newmarket Farmers Market: Farmers, vendors and volunteers create a hive of activity reminiscent of the town’s early years as a new market. A place to buy farm fresh produce, homemade baking, handmade crafts and a great place to meet up with friends over breakfast or lunch. At Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Aurora Farmers Market: Saturdays at Town Park, 64 Wells St from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Sunday, July 24

Main Street Pub Experience: Join an afternoon celebrating a few of the food and drink establishments of Main Street Newmarket, including Cachet, Hungry Brew Hops, Made in Mexico, and Old Flame Brewery, with a bonus stop. You will spend an hour at each establishment getting food and drinks at each before you move on to the next one! Tickets, $112, include: a food item and drink; swag bag; lanyard pass; live music at some of the spots.

Metaphysical, Psychic & Wellness Expo: At the Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum at 18974 Leslie St, Sharon, this free event from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. will have more than 50 metaphysical and wellness vendors, readers and healers, food trucks, speakers and live music.

Car Rally for CMHA: A car rally organized by Timeless Harmony takes participants through Newmarket and surrounding area while raising funds for CMHA-York Region South Simcoe. Registration is required in advance and can be completed online. Tickets are $100 per car and you must have at least two participants in your car. 

Georgina Farmers Market: Weekly market features about 30 vendors from local farmers and crafters, with live music, yoga in the park and other events at The Link, 20849 Dalton Rd. on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wheels and Wings: Highway 11 Cruisers are holding a car show at 18075 Leslie Street for a night of good food and great cars. Admission is free and gates open at 4 p.m.

Aurora’s Concerts in the Park offers free concerts Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Town Park (food bank donations welcome).

  • Aug. 3, Ultimate Urban and Shania Twain
  • Aug. 10, music of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding and more with Soul on Top
  • Aug. 17, Desire: A Tribute to U2
  • Aug. 24, the Mudmen (Celtic rock)
  • Aug. 31 with Epic Elton: A Tribute to Elton John.

Richmond Hill’s Concerts in the Park offer free entertainment Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mill Pond Park.

  • July 28, the Beach Party Boys

Richmond Hill Live! In the Plaza – Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 7 to 9 p.m.

Join the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts this month for a revamped summer music series featuring local artists performing in the theatre’s outdoor plaza on Yonge Street. Tuesday nights feature artists from a range of musical genres and Wednesdays are Open Mic nights.

Sharon Temple car show, Aug. 7: Highway 11 Cruisers Car Club and the Sharon Temple Museum Society host a classic car, truck and bike show at the Sharon Temple, 18974 Leslie St.,  from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event brings hundreds of vehicles ranging in make, model, and year. Featuring a barbecue, prizes and awards. Cost $5 to $12, proceeds go to charity.
