2026 Audi Q7: Next-gen three-row SUV spied

-

Audi has another facelift for its three-row Q7 SUV coming this year, but a next-generation model is just around the corner.

The third-generation Q7 is expected to debut in 2025 as a 2026 model.

Spied testing, the next Q7 adopts the brand’s new split-level lighting – as seen on the Q4 e-tron and Q6 e-tron electric SUVs – with a thin strip of daytime running lights separated from a lower-mounted headlight assembly.

It also features what looks like a new interpretation of the brand’s signature grille, which appears to be wider and sits lower than before.

There’s a similarly boxy profile to the outgoing Q7 to accommodate the third row of seats; the Q7 is Audi’s only global SUV to offer such an option.

This prototype is still wearing temporary tail lights, but a full-width assembly appears likely.

Expect Audi’s new interior design language to also feature, with an infotainment touchscreen no longer as neatly integrated with the dash and having more of a free-standing look.

As with the Q6 e-tron, the next Q7 could also offer a separate display for the front passenger.

A range of petrol and diesel engines is expected to continue, all with 48V mild-hybrid systems.

A plug-in hybrid option, which Australia misses out on with the current Q7, is also expected to continue, however we don’t expect an electric option.

Before the new model arrives, Audi is launching a final facelift for the second-generation Q7.

Due in Australia in the second half of 2024, it features updated styling front and rear, including a new grille design, restyled headlights with available HD Matrix LED technology, and Digital OLED tail lights.

Powertrains are unchanged, and continue to consist of a pair of turbo-diesel V6s and a turbo-petrol V6 in Australia, with the sportier SQ7 packing a twin-turbo petrol V8.

The current, second-generation Q7 was revealed in 2015, with an updated version revealed in 2019.

Last year, Audi sold 1961 examples of the Q7 and SQ7 in Australia – more than the Volvo XC90 (1299 sales), but behind rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE (2535) and BMW X5 (3682).
