Aston Martin Designer Explains The Interior Of The Valhalla

-

The Aston Martin Valhalla is getting closer to its market launch and in the latest official video, Miles Nurnberger, Aston Martin’s Director of Design, explains the process behind the interior design.

According to the Nurnberger, everything started with the driver. The team did a huge amount of work on ergonomics in the F1-inspired cabin which has more luxury and comfort features than the hardcore Valkyrie flagship. Still, the driving position with a low hip-to-heel ratio helps the driver feel connected to the vehicle.

A lot of the design work for the interior was completed with the help of a “package box”, a mockup of the cabin with adjustable pieces that allowed designers to evaluate and decide on the best possible placement of the controls. Aston Martins’ F1 drivers also played a role in the development, giving their input on ergonomics.

The supercar is based on a carbon-fiber chassis with adjustable F1-style pushrod suspension, carbon-ceramic matrix brakes, and active aerodynamics. The plug-in hybrid powertrain comprises an AMG-sourced mid-mounted twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and two electric motors. The combined output that was announced in the official presentation of the production-spec model last year was an impressive 937 hp (698 kW / 950 PS), although Aston Martin now claims it will be over 986 hp (735 kW / 1,000 PS). Thanks to all that power and the low dry weight of less than 1,550 kg (3,417 pounds), the Valhalla will accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and have a top speed of 217 mph (349 km/h).

Aston Martin will build 999 units of the Valhalla, with the first deliveries scheduled for late 2023. Recently, a build slot for the supercar became available for purchase online for €1,189,999 ($1,164,901).
