The global semiconductor chip crunch has taken a second bite of the Peugeot 3008 and 5008.
Peugeot Australia has done another “adjustment in the specification” of its top-spec 3008 and 5008 SUV models, as it removes more convenience features due to semiconductor shortages.
A spokesperson from Peugeot Citroen Australia confirmed the 2022 Peugeot 3008 GT Sport and 5008 GT Sport will miss out on a wireless charger from June onwards, as well as a power tailgate from August onwards.
“Despite our continuous effort to deliver our customers the best possible experience, and in order to help minimise the impact on vehicle availability, there has been an adjustment in the specification of the MY22 Peugeot 3008 and 5008 range,” said a Peugeot Citroen Australia spokesperson in a statement.

“From June arrival onwards, all variants of the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 ranges will not include wireless charging and from August arrival onwards, all variants of the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 ranges will not include the electric tailgate.”
A Peugeot Citroen Australia spokesperson confirmed there’s no retrofit solution available for either of these features.
They also encouraged customers to speak with their local Peugeot retailer about the specifics of their 3008 and 5008 order.
This latest development builds on high-spec 3008 and 5008 models missing out on the Focal premium sound system also due to a “manufacturing irregularity” that’s understood to be caused by component shortage and production constraints.

A Peugeot Citroen Australia spokesperson confirmed the Focal premium sound system still isn’t available on either SUV model.
For context, the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs are related – but the latter is a boxier, seven-seat version.
Despite the missing features due to semiconductor shortages, before on-road asking prices for both the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 remain unchanged.
The 2022 Peugeot 3008 range starts at $47,240 before on-road costs for the Allure and extends to $79,990 before on-road costs for the GT Sport PHEV.
The 2022 Peugeot 5008 range starts at $61,940 before on-road costs for the GT Sport petrol and extends to $62,990 before on-road costs for the GT Sport diesel.
While the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 are missing convenience features due to semiconductor shortages, Peugeot recently removed side thorax airbags and adaptive cruise control from its Expert commercial van.
